Signum launches new batch processing application for protecting digital images

Cheltenham, England, 1 September 1998

Signum Technologies Limited, developer of the SureSign advanced digital fingerprinting technology, has today announced SureSign Server, an upgraded advanced batch-processing application for automatically fingerprinting large volumes of digital images.

Based on Signum's upgraded fingerprinting engine, this new application will allow images to be handled round-the-clock, making it ideal for busy picture agencies or stock photo libraries who need to protect their interests and who also require a high level of productivity.

As well as helping suppliers of images, SureSign Server will also be of great help in lowering administration costs and reducing the risk of copyright infringement for large users of images such as news publishers.

SureSign Server enables users to both embed and detect fingerprints in images in seconds, with the option to automatically convert to common graphics file formats, if required. SureSign Server is simple to set up and is designed to operate completely unattended, processing large numbers of image files according a user-definable task list.

When SureSign Server is running, it generates a comprehensive processing log. In the detect mode, SureSign Server provides valuable identification data in tab-delimited format, permitting a publisher to extract picture usage information which, in turn, can be extended to automating the payment of reproduction fees to contributors.

Signum's marketing manager, Alan Bartlett, commented "SureSign has already proved to be of great value to content providers in Europe and North America. SureSign Server will now allow corporate and institutional users to control and monitor use of their visual assets more effectively."

SureSign Server will cost £1295 for an annual licence allowing users to fingerprint an unlimited number of images. There is also an additional annual fee of £495 for help-desk support and providing users' contact information on The Registry Web site. Initially, a Windows 95/NT version will be available but Signum expects to launch Macintosh and UNIX (Solaris) versions later in the Summer along with other special purpose variants.

SureSign copyright protection software has already been licensed to many corporate and individual users across the world. Further development of SureSign technology will allow producers of digital video and audio material to protect their work too.

Potential users who wish to try out Signum's fingerprinting software can download demonstration copies of SureSign Plug-ins for Photoshop (Mac and PC) and detector software free from Signum's Web site.
